National Prescribing Service (NPS) ProgramGEGPN has been involved in the Quality Use of medicines (QUM) project since 2001. This is a joint initiative with the National Prescribing Service (NPS) Program. The National Prescribing Service (NPS) is an independent non profit, incorporated organisation providing coordination and leadership for the quality use of medicines and prescribing. NPS is a member-based organisation providing accurate, balanced, evidence-based information and services to health professionals and the community on Quality Use of Medicines (QUM). To achieve this NPS work in partnership with GPs, pharmacists, specialists, other health professionals, Government, pharmaceutical industry, consumer organisations and the community. The underlying philosophy of the National Prescribing Service is to make sure prescribers have access to the information and support they need to make good prescribing decisions, ensuring the best and most cost-effective treatment for patients.
