Women's Counselling Service

Womens Counselling Services

The Goldfields Esperance GP Network (GEGPN) and the Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre (GWHCC) forged a relationship when it was identified there was a need for a counselling service to reach the female population of the Eastern Goldfields.

The GEGPN employs a counsellor with professional qualifications and substantial industry experience to provide services to women seeking counselling assistance. This service operates four days a week from the GWHCC at 15 Dugan Street, Kalgoorlie.

Women and teenagers aged 14 years and over, are referred to this service primarily through GPs but there is a capacity for referrals from other health professionals. It is acknowledged that men will participate in the counselling process if it is in the context of supporting the female client.

This service is proving to be of huge benefit to the Kalgoorlie community with both the GEGPN and GWHCC receiving positive feedback from clients and General Practitioners.
